Australia
Short profile: Long distances, extreme heat, bushfires, floods, tropical cyclones, strong currents and remote areas require careful route and emergency planning. Follow local alerts, road status and health advice.
Fiji
Short profile: Tropical cyclones, heavy rain, flooding, strong currents and limited infrastructure on smaller islands can disrupt travel. Monitor weather, ferry and flight connections.
Kiribati
Short profile: Its remote location, limited medical care, restricted transport options and tropical weather require thorough preparation and suitable insurance cover.
Marshall Islands
Short profile: Remote islands, limited medical and technical infrastructure, weather events and restricted flight or sea connections are important considerations.
Federated States of Micronesia
Short profile: Flights and sea connections may be limited or weather-dependent. Consider tropical storms, water activities, distance from medical care and island logistics.
Nauru
Short profile: The small, remote island has limited medical, tourism and transport infrastructure. Health preparation, medical-evacuation cover and reliable onward-travel arrangements are important.
New Zealand
Short profile: Earthquakes, volcanic activity, tsunamis, severe weather and alpine hazards can occur rapidly by region. Check weather, road and emergency information for hiking, driving and remote travel.
Palau
Short profile: Island and diving travel depends heavily on weather, sea conditions and flights. Medical care is limited; use reputable providers and suitable insurance for diving and water activities.
Papua New Guinea
Short profile: Crime and violence can be significant, especially in cities. Remote areas, tribal conflict, natural hazards, transport and limited infrastructure are additional planning factors.
Samoa
Short profile: Cyclones, heavy rain, earthquakes, tsunamis and strong ocean currents can affect travel. Leave sufficient time flexibility when travelling to smaller islands or remote areas.
Solomon Islands
Short profile: Crime, local tensions, natural events, limited medical care and weather-dependent flights or sea connections require forward planning.
Tonga
Short profile: Tropical cyclones, volcanic activity, earthquakes, tsunami risk and limited transport and health infrastructure can be relevant.
Tuvalu
Short profile: Its remote location, limited infrastructure, weather risks and few transport options make medical-evacuation insurance and flexible onward-travel plans especially important.
Vanuatu
Short profile: Volcanic activity, earthquakes, tsunamis, tropical cyclones and limited infrastructure are central risks. Check local natural-hazard alerts and flight or ferry status continuously.
