Passport / ID Card

A valid passport is required for entry. It must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay.

Visa

Citizens of the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Australia can enter for tourism without a visa for up to 90 days, extendable to a total of 180 days per year.

Important for Taiwanese passport holders: A valid Schengen or US visa (minimum 180 days validity) is required for visa-free entry. Otherwise, a tourist visa must be obtained in advance.

All travelers must complete the Check-Mig registration form on the immigration website between 72 hours and 1 hour before departure.

Mandatory Vaccinations

Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for travelers arriving from Angola, Brazil, Democratic Republic of the Congo, or Uganda (including airport transits). It is also recommended if visiting low-altitude areas below 1,700 m (5,600 ft).

The U.S. Department of State advises to reconsider travel to Colombia due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, and natural disasters. The Australian government advises exercising a high degree of caution overall.

  • Arauca, Cauca (excluding Popayán), Valle del Cauca (excluding Cali), and Norte de Santander departments due to crime and terrorism.
  • Areas within 10 km of the Venezuela border.

Crime

Violent crime is common, including murder, assault, robbery, drugging, extortion, and kidnapping. Street crime can quickly become violent. If targeted, do not resist.
